Examination
The examination of the course consists of a supervised written exam at the end of the course.
This is the only form of examination in this course.
This means that the exam cannot be replaced by home assignments,
no bonus points are awarded for work during the course,
and it's not possible to improve a grade after the end of the course by handing in extra work.
Exam dates
Normally an exam is given three times per year: the first at the end of the course,
the second about a month or two later, and the third some time in August.
A student who fails the exam is allowed to write it again the next time it is given.

Exam dates are published in the beginning of the semester.
Allowed aids
Calculator (any kind, but the memory should be cleared at the beginning of the exam)
Students are advised to bring a calculator with the elementary mathematical functions,
such as powers, roots and logarithms.
Grading
The course is graded according to the ECTS grading system.
The grades are, from highest to lowest:
A, B, C, D, E (pass grades), and F (fail).
Format of the exam and grade limits
This is preliminary information. The detailed format of the exam may be changed,
e.g. if another teacher has to take over the course.
The exam is normally 4 hours long.
A typical exam consists of six questions, each of which may have several parts or sections.
Each of the six questions may be awarded a maximum of five grading points,
so the maximum achievable sum of points on an exam is 30 points.
The sum of points achieved on an exam determines the awarded grades as follows:

Time for grading
The results are normally posted within 15 working days. That usually means three weeks if there is no holiday.
